Accurate trigger entry depends on the location accuracy reported by iOS. Reduced accuracy can fire only when the radius safely contains that uncertainty.

Your first route
Four steps. Nothing hidden in the middle.
- Start with guest planning
Finish Getting Started without Tesla if you prefer. You can create, import, edit, save, share, and simulate routes before connecting an account.
- Create or import a route
Tap plus for New Route, From Maps Link, Curated Routes, I’m Feeling Lucky, or New Trip. Search for places, tap the map, and drag the stops into order.
- Make the stops useful
Open a stop to set its 0.5-mile default trigger, notes, photos, pin color, and ordered actions. Review every external-app or route-switch action.
- Simulate before you drive
Use Simulate Drive to check every trigger circle and action in route order. The rehearsal never sends a Tesla command or launches a side-effect action.
Connect a Tesla
Wake it. Choose it. Pair it.
Tesla sign-in is optional until you want live vehicle features. RouteDrop never receives your Tesla password.
- Wake the vehicle first
Use the Tesla app when the car is asleep. A Plus-eligible RouteDrop wake may also be offered where supported.
- Sign in on Tesla’s page
Use RouteDrop’s Connect Tesla flow and approve the requested access. Return to RouteDrop after Tesla finishes.
- Select the exact car
Open Garage and choose the vehicle that should receive routes. Each card shows connectivity and secure-command compatibility.
- Pair RouteDrop EV when asked
Tap Pair with RouteDrop EV, approve the virtual key in the Tesla app, return, and wait for Garage to refresh. Use Check Pairing Status if needed.
- Send while safely parked
Open a saved route, choose Send to Tesla, select Drive Mode, Round-Trip, or Just Send, confirm the vehicle and route part, then watch for Tesla confirmation.
Background-ready Drive Mode
Permission has a purpose.
RouteDrop explains location access before asking. Use While Using for visible planning and testing. Enable Always Location only when you want an explicitly armed route to receive supported monitored stop events while locked or backgrounded.
Choose the audio route
Profile’s Play driving alerts on iPhone speaker setting keeps automatic stop and Radar sounds audible when the Tesla is playing another source. Turn it off for normal iOS routing.
Use the return surfaces
Drive and Convoy Live Activities, the Dynamic Island, and the Drive Mode widget help you return to the active experience without searching through the app.
Notifications are optional
Enable them for visible Radar alerts, selected stop notification actions, schedule outcomes, and—when chosen—new curated-route announcements. RouteDrop still asks feature by feature.
Voice and media stay explicit
Microphone is used only for recording and features that actually need it. Personal Voice and Apple Music permissions appear only after you choose their corresponding speech or music action.
Integrity checks protect the service
Supported devices may register Apple app-integrity evidence before sensitive service calls. This is anti-abuse protection, not advertising tracking, and does not replace your Tesla sign-in.
Common fixes
Start with the state RouteDrop can prove.
Send to Tesla is unavailable
Open Profile and confirm the Tesla session. In Garage, select the intended vehicle, wake it, pair RouteDrop EV when prompted, then pull to refresh. Back in the send sheet, use Refresh Vehicle Status for a fresh compatibility check.
Tesla did not confirm a command
Check the vehicle display before retrying—a network response can be lost after Tesla accepted the command. Refresh Garage, verify online and paired state, then retry once after the visible send cooldown.
RouteDrop could not prepare every stop
Edit vague or malformed stops and choose an exact map result. RouteDrop stores Place IDs and Plus Codes, but Tesla still needs a routable location key for every navigation stop.
A stop trigger did not fire
- Confirm Drive Mode—not Just Send—is active.
- Confirm the stop and each action are enabled.
- Review the radius on the map and allow Precise Location.
- Allow Always Location for supported locked/background behavior.
- Check whether an earlier tap-required action is waiting.
- Rehearse the same order in the simulator.
Spoken with Grok did not play
Confirm the action has saved text, wait for generation to finish, and preview the embedded result. Respect the displayed cooldown. If generated media is missing or invalid, RouteDrop uses the saved text with system speech.
Driving audio went to the Tesla or AirPods
Open Profile and enable Play driving alerts on iPhone speaker, then tap Test iPhone speaker. The preference affects the next clip. RouteDrop does not raise media volume and safely falls back to the system route if iOS rejects the speaker override.
Radar or Convoy stopped after switching apps
Radar reconnects when its selected tab resumes and can continue only while that experience remains selected. Convoy sharing is foreground-only by design; use its Live Activity to return, then re-enable room-specific location sharing if needed.
A schedule did not run
Check the Tesla session, vehicle selection, secure pairing, access plan, route’s first part, displayed time zone, and whether the vehicle can use the configured wake path. Manage or cancel the schedule in Profile.
Manage or cancel a subscription
RouteDrop Plus, Pro, and Pro+ are monthly auto-renewable subscriptions managed by Apple. Open Profile to compare access, purchase, or restore, and use Apple’s subscription settings to change or cancel before renewal.
